Ingredients
  

  • 8 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 8 oz whipped topping like Cool Whip, thawed
  • 6-8 Christmas tree cakes Little Debbie brand
  • 3-4 drops green food coloring optional

Instructions
 

  • Remove cream cheese from refrigerator 30 minutes before starting to allow it to reach room temperature.
  • Unwrap Christmas tree cakes and chop 5-6 of them into small pieces, reserving 1-2 for garnish.
  • Beat softened cream cheese in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese and beat for one more minute until fully combined.
  • Gently fold in the whipped topping using a spatula until no white streaks remain.
  • Add green food coloring if desired and fold through until color distributes evenly.
  • Fold in the chopped Christmas tree cakes gently to avoid turning them to mush.
  • Transfer dip to serving bowl and crumble reserved cakes over the top as garnish.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
  • Serve cold with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, apple slices, or pretzel crisps.
