- 8 oz cream cheese softened to room temperature
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 8 oz whipped topping like Cool Whip, thawed
- 6-8 Christmas tree cakes Little Debbie brand
- 3-4 drops green food coloring optional
Remove cream cheese from refrigerator 30 minutes before starting to allow it to reach room temperature.
Unwrap Christmas tree cakes and chop 5-6 of them into small pieces, reserving 1-2 for garnish.
Beat softened cream cheese in a large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed for 1-2 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract to the cream cheese and beat for one more minute until fully combined.
Gently fold in the whipped topping using a spatula until no white streaks remain.
Add green food coloring if desired and fold through until color distributes evenly.
Fold in the chopped Christmas tree cakes gently to avoid turning them to mush.
Transfer dip to serving bowl and crumble reserved cakes over the top as garnish.
Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
Serve cold with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, apple slices, or pretzel crisps.
