Ingredients
  

  • 1 box cake mix any flavor
  • Ingredients called for on the cake mix box usually water, oil, and eggs[4][10]
  • 1-2 containers of vanilla frosting or homemade
  • 1-2 cups flaked coconut sweetened
  • Jellybeans various colors
  • Licorice black or red, optional
  • Construction paper optional

Instructions
 

  • Preheat and Prepare Pans: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch or 9-inch round cake pans.
  • Mix Batter: Prepare cake batter according to the cake mix box directions.
  • Bake Cakes: Pour batter evenly into prepared pans. Bake as directed on the box, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Cool Cakes: Cool in pans for 15 minutes. Remove from pans and cool completely on a wire rack.
  • Cut Cake: Cut one cake into two ear shapes and a bowtie shape (see diagram in article or online).
  • Assemble: Place the uncut cake round on a platter. Position the ear pieces above and the bowtie piece below.
  • Frost: Frost the entire assembled cake with vanilla frosting.
  • Add Coconut: Sprinkle coconut generously over the frosting.
  • Decorate: Use jellybeans for eyes and nose. Add licorice whiskers (optional). Insert construction paper ears (optional).
