Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup 240g sourdough starter discard
  • 8 oz 225g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 1/2 cup 113g unsalted butter
  • 1 cup 200g granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup 100g brown sugar, packed
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup 60g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup 50g cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup mix-ins optional: chocolate chips, nuts, or dried fruit

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Melt chocolate and butter together until smooth.
  • Whisk sugars in a large bowl.
  • Add melted chocolate mixture to sugars and combine.
  • Beat in eggs one at a time.
  • Stir in sourdough discard and vanilla.
  • Whisk dry ingredients together in a separate bowl.
  • Fold dry ingredients into wet ingredients until just combined.
  • Add optional mix-ins if desired.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes until toothpick has moist crumbs.
  • Cool completely before cutting into squares.
